Day 39 Leaving bliss for Helsinki

I awoke naturally at 6:30am! I am dog tired, why on earth didn't I sleep for longer? Around the anchorages are a few summer houses, it seems that most Finns have summer houses in the forests backing onto lakes. On the other side of the lake the owner went to the end of his jetty stripped off and went for a swim.

After breakfast I thought I might do the same the water was 20.7 degrees, but then four people went and sat on the deck and opened a bottle of champagne, so no skinny dipping for me! However I still went for a swim.

As we left the anchorage, the four people drinking champagne stood up and waved us off. You would not believe it but another boat on our rally suddenly appeared just two boat lengths away, they had been anchored about two miles away up a creek overnight so it was an amazing co-incidence.

Two boats going in the same direction only means one thing… so we took photographs of each others boats whilst we passed and re-passed each other.

There are fifteen boats on the rally and it is amazing because we were all free anchoring last night so we were miles apart but when we arrived we arrived within two minutes of three other boats so it was rather hectic on the pontoons as all the boats needed to be docked safely.

In the evening we went to the yacht club for a club supper. It was good simple food but the alcohol was very expensive. A beer or glass of wine will cost £7 or more.

  • 20.7 degrees could be worse!
  • Sea Crusader moving
  • Sea Crusader again.
