What are we doing?

Cala Xarraca and Valencia

I had a rough night, I think it was the "Sangria - Carva"… I won't be having that again in a hurry. I was up early but I had a book to read so that was it. A quick early morning dip a read of my book and wait for Linda to emerge. We had fruit salad for breakfast again and honestly you don't feel like much else.

My phone pinged and it was Sarah from Blue Eyes thanking me for the recommendation for the anchorage, I sent a quick reply saying I thought that they were going to go overnight to Mallorca. She said that they had decided to stay the night and go this evening instead when the wind was better, what are we doing she asked…I looked at Linda she looked at me and I replied "we are having lunch with you!". So off we went to Cala Xarraca for a third might.

We arrived to find quite strong winds and it took us a while to be able to anchor sufficient distance away from other boats to allow for swinging… or so we thought. After a quick swim Joe went on his powerful rib (20HP) to checkout our lunch options, we went to the same restaurant we visited last time.

We had a nice time together and returned to the boat to find we had swing around and were now only half a boat length from Blue Eyes, too close for comfort. We moved again, it is very frustrating when we stretch out our anchor other boats should do the same and then boats should keep their relative distances similar but this does not always happen.

We set the alarm the night before for 5:15 and at 6am we were off, we were surprised to see Blue Eyes had stayed another night and they were clearly not up yet. At 6am we were off and heading for Valencia. The journey was uneventful, we did manage to use the pink-un for a while and then the water exploded around us with jumping dolphins. The display lasted 90 seconds and then they were gone as suddenly as they arrived.

As we got closer to Valencia it was that time again, afternoon winds… The cruising chute had to come down and we kept going a pace. We arrived at the welcome dock and registered and paid the fee. We were then issued a berth with the winds 90 degrees to the dock, great. It took two attempts to get in the first time was perfect by the Maranello dropped the line so we had to start again. The second time was ok but not as good as the first and of course everyone came out to watch.

We are here now and we will spend tomorrow cleaning and I will service the engine with an oil change. On Tuesday we will fly home and great news, Jonathan is arriving back in the UK on Tuesday too which is an unexpected bonus. Geoffrey who has been at home the whole time we have been away is keen as mustard to collect us all on our return, I guess he has missed us!
