Day 9 Ardfern Marina - Loch Spelve(Isle of Mull)

We left Ardfern having had a day to turn the boat around with Alastair and Jane having left on Sunday morning. Linda did a fantastic job of laundering the sheets and cleaning whilst I did some boat maintenance and I fixed a few long standing faults.

I had planned a route to the anchorage at Caun Sound which is a little anchorage between the Island of Luing and Shauna. When we arrived we found that most of the space was taken up bu local moorings and there was not enough water or swinging room in the areas that remained for a boat of our size and draft. The tides run quite strongly through there and it was not worth the trouble to stay, I would not have relaxed. Consequently lunch was delayed and we headed for the Isle of Mull.

We headed for Loch Spelve and it was not long before we arrived. The loch is full of mussel farms so the route to the anchorage is circuitous. We dropped anchor and I noted that there were a few jelly fish around. In any event it was time for fizz so we open a bottle and then about an hour later the jelly fish arrived en-mass. I have never seen anything like it, it was like an invasion from another planet. The colours were amazing and the water was so thick with them. If you had jumped in you would have been heading for the bottom just like Dory! I did not run the generator nor water maker as I didn't want to block the inlet pipes, lts hope that they have moved on by the morning.
