Day 14 Largs
It must be a good omen - no fog, no wind either but it is a start. We left around 7am again but this time our destination was Largs, the journey is almost over. The first few hours were quite uneventful and we did manage a bit of motor sailing but there was really not even enough wind for that so the sails were rolled away.
Once we were past the end of the Isle of Arran, we took a small detour and went inside Holy Island. It was interesting to see the boats at anchored off the island and boats on buoys off the shore of Arran. Whilst the water that lies between the two islands is not that wide it is very deep.
Soon after leaving Holy Island behind I saw a bird of prey swooping over the water I presume it was hunting for fish, but in a blink it was over the horizon.
The entry into Largs was uneventful and we were soon tied up on the hammerhead they had kept for us. We were unable to get a table at Scotts the rather up-market restaurant attached to the marina but luckily we were able to get a table at "The Catch at Fins". There we had a very nice meal and kept an eye on the England - Ukraine match. When we left the restaurant the match was 1-0 to England so we went back tot he boat and switched on the iPlayer and watched it from where we left off. A well deserved win for England I think.
