Day 1 Largs - Loch Goil

We left Largs around 10:30 and the weather was cloudy but not foggy. We were initially sailing dead down wind but soon we hoisted the new cruising chute. The wind was barely 6 knts so we were just making 3,5knts over the ground with about ½ a knot of tide with us.

We perfected the art of sailing slowly towards Loch Long whist Jane worked hard at the navigation table. We have a lovely selection of sandwiches on the go sitting at the table in the cockpit as we entered Loch Long.

Loch Long is an interesting place because there are some submarine bases and you have to keep well away from them and there are police vessels there just to make sure that you do.

We anchored on Loch Goil and it was amazingly peaceful and whilst we were anchored about 100 yards offshore we could clearly hear the conversations of people taking on the bank.

  • Long Loch
  • No luck fishing again, only birds nests
  • It was so peaceful we just enjoyed a drink.
